NELA Music Association to Host Appreciation Reception Honoring Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser
MONROE, La. — The Northeast Louisiana Music Association (NMA) is proud to host an Appreciation Reception in honor of Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser on Tuesday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Northeast Louisiana Delta African American Heritage Museum, located at 1051 Chennault Park Drive, Monroe, Louisiana.
This special event is open to the public and will recognize Lieutenant Governor Nungesser’s outstanding contributions to the music, culture, and people of Louisiana. His continued support of Louisiana's cultural economy, particularly through his promotion of live music and tourism, has had a profound impact on the region and beyond.
Guests will also learn about the mission and work of the NELA Music Association, which exists to recognize and celebrate the diverse musical talent throughout Northeast Louisiana. The Association’s vision is to establish the region as a thriving hub for music lovers, artists, and cultural enthusiasts.
Efforts by the NMA include:
- Hosting the annual NELA Music Awards to spotlight exceptional local talent
- Promoting local artists and music events via the NELA Music Awards Facebook page
- Offering a weekly texting service that shares where live music is playing across the region
- Producing videos that highlight the area's musical heritage
- Participating in weekly radio and TV segments to elevate awareness of local performances
- Publishing write-ups and features from staff writers who attend live shows throughout the region
Together, these initiatives reflect the NMA’s commitment to preserving and promoting live music in Northeast Louisiana.
