MONROE, LA — August 2026 — As Bayou Jamb celebrates its 20th Anniversary, the organization will continue one of its most meaningful Fan Jamb Week traditions with the annual Bayou Jamb Salute to Service, honoring Pilots for Patients for its extraordinary service to individuals and families throughout Louisiana.
The 2026 Salute to Service will be held Thursday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Dippers, 4300 Loop Road, Monroe, LA 71201. The event is free and open to the public. Football players and ROTC members from participating high schools will also be in attendance, joining Bayou Jamb in recognizing Pilots for Patients and celebrating the importance of service in our community.
Each year, Bayou Jamb's Salute to Service recognizes individuals and organizations whose commitment to serving others makes a lasting impact on our community.
This year’s honoree, Pilots for Patients, is a Monroe-based nonprofit organization that provides free air transportation to patients who must travel away from home for medical treatment. Through its network of volunteer pilots and supporters, the organization has provided a lifeline to thousands of patients and their families.
“Bayou Jamb has always been about more than what happens on the field,” said Bayou Jamb Founder Patti Thurmon. “As we celebrate 20 years, it’s important that we also celebrate the people and organizations who make our community stronger. Pilots for Patients represents exactly what Salute to Service is about—using your time, talents and resources to serve others.”
The Bayou Jamb Salute to Service, proudly sponsored and hosted by Holy Dippers, is part of Fan Jamb Week and leads into the 20th Anniversary Bayou Jamb football games at ULM’s FMOL Health | St. Francis Stadium.
