Are you a relationship builder with a passion for sales, sports, and tourism? Discover Monroe-West Monroe is seeking an energetic and results-driven Sports Tourism Sales Coordinator to help position our destination as a premier location for sporting events and tournaments.
In this role, you'll be responsible for generating new sports tourism business by identifying, pursuing, and securing sporting events that increase overnight visitation, hotel occupancy, visitor spending, and economic impact throughout Ouachita Parish. You'll work directly with tournament directors, sports organizations, event rights holders, hotels, venues, and community partners to bring new opportunities to Monroe-West Monroe.
What You'll Do
- Prospect and develop new sports tourism business opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with tournament directors, governing bodies, sports organizations, and hospitality partners.
- Prepare and present competitive bid proposals and destination presentations.
- Manage a sales pipeline from lead generation through confirmed bookings.
- Represent Discover Monroe-West Monroe at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and industry meetings.
- Collaborate with community partners to deliver exceptional visitor experiences and encourage repeat business.
- Help drive tourism growth and strengthen the local economy through successful event recruitment.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Three or more years of experience in sales, sports tourism, hospitality, destination marketing, convention sales, or business development preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, goal-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CRM or Simpleview experience is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
