The Home Builders Association of Northeast Louisiana (HBANELA) is a nonprofit trade association (501)c3, existing to support and strengthen its members and the local home building industry while serving as a trusted resource for homeowners in our region.
Position Summary
HBANELA is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional Executive Officer. The Executive Officer (EO) is the chief administrative staff member of the Home Builders Association of Northeast Louisiana and is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Association, implementing policies established by the Board of Directors, and promoting the mission and objectives of the organization at the local, state, and national levels. The EO reports directly to the Board of Directors and works under the general supervision of the President and Executive Committee.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Authorities

1. Governance and Board Administration

  • Keep the Board of Directors, President, Officers, Councils, and Committees fully informed on all matters affecting the Association.
  • Attend and support all meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Councils.
  • Serve as Secretary to the Executive Committee and as staff liaison to committees and councils.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, reports, and other materials necessary for efficient and informed meetings.
  • Execute all Board decisions and policies, except in cases where specific assignments are delegated otherwise.
  • Assist in the development of Association policies, procedures, and programs for Board consideration and approval.
  • Maintain official records, governing documents, and archives of the Association in a secure and organized manner.

2. Operations and Human Resources Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Association in accordance with established policies and approved budgets.
  • Develop internal procedures and systems to ensure effective administration and service to members.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Association staff in alignment with approved personnel policies.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Maintain a sound organizational structure that supports the mission and programs of the Association.

3. Financial Management and Compliance

  • Develop and recommend the annual operating budget in cooperation with the Treasurer and Finance/Budget Committee.
  • Manage the Association’s financial resources within established budget and policy guidelines.
  • Ensure that all funds, physical assets, and properties are appropriately safeguarded and administered.
  • Oversee fiscal reporting, tax compliance, and financial recordkeeping in accordance with accepted accounting standards.
  • Direct submission of new members, renewals, and membership changes to NAHB & LHBA.
  • Direct purchasing, repair, or servicing office equipment, machines and supplies, not to exceed $500.00 without Board approval.
