Who We Are

Pulpmill Services, Inc. (PSI) primary business is the manufacturing, installation, repair and refurbishing of pulping equipment, diversifying into industrial general construction including concrete, structural steel, piping and mechanical projects. PSI is a full-service fabrication, welding, and machine shop utilizing advanced CNC machines, water jet and plasma tables and large horizontal and vertical milling machines.

Summary/Objective

The Waterjet Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the waterjet & plasma tables to assist in PSI’s specialty machining business.

This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions:

Essential Functions

  • Setup, operate, load and unload material and parts according to drawing details and special job instructions.
  • Operate controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of parts.
  • Inspect parts for quality and conformance to requirements.
  • Ensure production goals are met.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and performs adjustments as required to ensure quality standard is met.
  • Report all malfunctions to management.
  • Communicate with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Suggest and implement improvements.
  • Communicate all production related items to next shift waterjet operator or shift supervisor.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Willing to learn and perform other tasks and duties as needed.

Competencies

  • Ability to perform basic math to include but not limited to add, subtract, multiply, divide, perform geometry and algebra functions for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written form or verbally so that instructions can be followed with minimal chance of error.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize and make changes as needed.
  • Possess good communication and people skills.
  • Display good attitude conducive to a shop environment.
  • Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large equipment.
  • Ability to recognize when a sense of urgency is needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with other personnel.

Physical demands

Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials

Required education and experience

  • Experience in a metal job shop.
  • Experience reading blueprints.

Preferred education and experience

  • Prefer 2+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
  • Forklift operations (will train on site)
  • Overhead crane operations (will train on site)

 

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID.
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • $15 - $22/hour (exact rate to be determined based on experience and qualifications)
