During their search they found there to be a growing need for mental health treatment in the area. Guidance for Behavioral Health was founded on the principle that quality mental health services should be available to all of those that need them.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Complete comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, and reassessment for prospective and current clients
  • Prepare, proofread and write regular, concise and complete progress notes or other documentation related to client progress status
  • Submit legible logs within 48 hours of delivering the service with proper documentation and appropriate signatures
  • Administer and score LOCUS/CALOCUS
  • Prepare and write notes/document related to recovery (e.g. progress notes, discharge, etc.)
  • Review and sign all service notes submitted by unlicensed staff for accuracy and completeness
  • Adhere to respective board of licensing code of ethics and follow state guidelines and rules
  • Monitor/maintain service authorizations for all clients served
  • Collaborate with psychiatrist and notify of any significant change(s) in member's physical or mental status
  • Ensure completed assessments, treatment plans, and other documentation needed to approve clients for services have been successful submitted and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct, at minimum; one face-to-face interview with the member and their family/significant others and obtain necessary signatures and dates on documents.
  • Provide direct care to clients utilizing the core competencies of mental health counseling and may serve as primary counselor to specified caseload
  • Serve as a resource person for other professionals in your specified area of expertise
  • Attend/participate in individual care conferences, treatment planning activities, and discharge planning
  • Provide onsite and direct professional supervision of all unlicensed professional or inexperienced professionals
  • Function as the client's advocate in all treatment decisions affecting the client
  • Provide crisis intervention services for unlicensed staff as needed
  • Provide training to unlicensed staff (e.g. acceptable note writing, PSR/CPST skills)
  • Maintain malpractice insurance coverage
  • Communicates with the MCO's on clinical issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)
  • Certified Social Worker (CSW)
  • Licensed Master Social Worker(LMSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Addiction Counselors (LAC)
  • Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC)
  • Provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN)*with a psychiatric specialty
  • Medical Psychologists
  • Physician or Psychologist with a minimum of 2 years experience in the delivery of Mental Health Services post master's degree. Maintain a current and unrestricted license with your respective professionals board of licensing authority in the state of Louisiana
