SUMMARY:Herons on the Bayou at Downtown Gallery Crawl
DESCRIPTION:Plans announced for the Herons on the Bayou Final Reveal\n\n \n\nMONROE-WEST MONROE\, LA The Final Wave of the Herons on the Bayou (HOTB) project had kicked off and will end with the final 13 herons landing on June 3 in Palace Park in Monroe at the Final Big Reveal Celebration. Plans include a mini heron auction\, 100th Heron auction\, kids activities\, live music\, and\, of course\, the Big Reveal. \n\nBeginning Monday\, May 22\, the HOTB auction opened online offering the chance to bid on 36 beautifully designed mini herons each with their own personality. Each mini was created by local artists\, and bids for each mini heron start at $150. \n\n \n\nAnother exciting item listed for auction is the sponsorship for the 100th heron\, Centuria. Centuria was created by HOTB founders Brooke Foy and Emery Thibodeaux. This is the only heron featuring a mosaic technique. The winner of this auction will be able to place Centuria in front of their business or a public place of their choosing for the public to enjoy. Bidding begins at $6000 for this one of a kind piece. \n\n \n\nOn June 1\, the HOTB will showcase the mini herons and Centuria at the Downtown Gallery Crawl at The Palace Gallery from 5-9 pm. All of the birds up for auction will be on display for bidders and the public to get an up close look at these creative works of art. \n\n \n\nThe Big Reveal Celebration follows on Saturday\, June 3 from 6-8 pm\, with a sponsor event scheduled from 5-6 pm. All 13 herons in the final wave will be located at Palace Park and will be unveiled during the event. Live music by Dead Reckoning and snacks will be available during the event. The online auction will end at the closing of the celebration. \n\n \n\nThe Herons on the Bayou project is the largest\, most widespread public art project in Ouachita Parish. Over the course of three waves\, this community-wide project involves 100 heron sculptures\, each standing 6-7 feet tall\, placed throughout the Twin Cities. \n\n \n\nAll monies raised will fund the Herons Give Back\, an initiative of the Downtown Art Alliance. This program will allow non-profits to apply for funding to support the Arts in our region. Non-profits can apply for funding to accomplish any dream that feeds the arts in one of the following ways: arts education\, public art\, art camps\, arts festivals\, crafts for kids\, etc. More details regarding this program will be announced in the future. \n\n \n\nFor more information\, contact Brooke Foy\, project coordinator\, at heronsonthebayou@gmail.com or 318.512.2131.
